About Collective-Era
Collective-Era at its core is a group of three artists who work collaboratively. Painting as a group on the same artworks we bring our differing styles together to create cohesive and unique collective pieces. Embodying a new approach to art strongly influenced by music culture, the collective are artists with a shared rather than an ego-centred outlook. Inspired by the discourse that emerges from group improvisation, like a band jamming, reacting to and complementing each other, our constantly shifting dialogue giving rise to an evolution of creativity.

Aswell as the collaborative paintings, this website contains examples of solo artwork by each member as well as a section for the work of our occasionally contributing 'satellite' members.

A visual language has been constructed to aid the explanation of the unknown. There is a strange compulsion towards a bombarding unbearable multi-coloured mess. Inspiration is the fuel. This can be found in the depths of darktimes, bright times, pounding rhythms of organic and battered sound, the other souls who can do unreal things... bacon, pollock, goya, dali, nara, giacommetti, tanguy, picasso..many more. there's calligraphy, victorians, fish, plants, water, squarepusher, rats, spraycans, frizz balls, deserts, all the colours of the 'bow.

Chris Menes
Chris Menes
Chris takes inspiration where ever he can; from music, nature, technology, philosophy, Japanese animation and graffiti. His paintings and drawings frequently include collaged graphic print-outs, which he produces separately in Photoshop and then tears up and reassembles as part of the final artwork.

The images are abstract in nature but seem to hint at other worlds or quantum dimensions, often seemingly unstable spaces where human rules and logic have long since collapsed. Hyper-evolved technologies spin erratically towards unknown futures and anarchic nano-machines playfully construct and deconstruct nature.

Output for visual noise attacks - The creature known as Thomas McNulty is mostly interested in: The balance between the sickly sweet and the macabre. The balance between chaos and the continuum. The balance between entertainment and torture. Existing somewhere between biology and synthesis. Focused on the artistic liberation of nonsense, humour, impracticality and above all the imagination.

Influences: Irregularities, new experiences and the unknown future. People - especially the creatives of sound & light, music & art.
